Victory1Hundred Scholarship Fundraiser Nite!

Please help make our fundraiser a success and join in on our Paint Nite to support Victory1Hundred Scholarship Foundation.

Let’s get creative for a great cause! I’m hosting a Paint Nite event to raise money for our two scholarship streams – and you’re invited!

Where

El Torito in West CovinA
3133 E Garvey Avenue North West Covina, CA

When:
Thursday, May 12, 2016
7:00 p.m. - 9:00 P.M.

Why: Because Victory1Hundred needs our help!

How:  Register now at http://paintnite.com/pages/events/view/losangeles/1072255

At Paint Nite, a master artist will give us step-by-step instructions to create a work of art – while we socialize and sip cocktails. We’ll all go home with a masterpiece.

No art experience needed! Paint Nite will donate a portion of ticket sales to Victory1Hundred Scholarship Foundation, which I am passionate about because it is my passion to give back to my community. Help me put the “fun” in fundraising – please RSVP and register now at http://paintnite.com/pages/events/view/losangeles/1072255 !

Thanks so much for your support and please invite your friends to join in on the fun. We need 35 painters to make it happen!!!

Passing of Cleo Martinez

Cleo Martinez, a long-time teacher, Dean of Discipline, and coach at Bishop Amat passed away on April 5, 2016. Cleo had been in Catholic schools since 1969.  He worked at Bishop Amat HS from 1969-1982.  In 1982, he left Amat to lead Paraclete High School, and served as principal for two years.  In his twenty nine years at Paraclete, he had been a Dean of Discipline, taught Spanish and Social Studies, and coached baseball and football.  The football program has an annual award in his honor, the Cleo Martinez Award.  This award is given to the junior varsity football player who has the highest G.P.A.

Cleo was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1941 and moved with his family to Pomona, California at the age of ten.  Except for his military service, he lived in the Pomona-Ontario area until 1982. Cleo married his wife, Barbara, in 1984.  His elementary and high school education was primarily in Catholic schools.  He was very active in sports during these years and lettered in sports at Pomona Catholic High School.  He attended Chaffey Community College, and after serving three years in the Marine Corps, he completed his college education at Cal State Fullerton and St. Mary's College.  Cleo so valued his Catholic education and loved participating in sports that his goal was to teach and coach at a Catholic high school. He most certainly achieved his goal with his 42 years of educating and coaching young people in Catholic schools!

May we all will continue to pray for his wife Barbara, and the many people who will miss this kind and good man.
